Papertrey Ink March Blog Hop

The inspiration for Papertrey Ink's March Blog Hop is amazing!  I love the idea of stitching on paper.  I received my March order in time to use Erin's new Folk Flower Die.  Love this little flower so much.  I hope Erin keeps these beautiful dies coming!

Here's one of the inspiration photos.  Isn't it gorgeous?

And here's what I created:

I used Smokey Shadow for my background and cardstock pieces cut from the Folk Flower Die.  This was such fun to work on!  I already have some more cards started with different colors and backgrounds.  I'll post them here in a few days as I finish them.

I use DMC Perle Cotton size 5 for my stitching.  I like it for all my stitching on felt (and now paper!) rather than embroidery floss.  I have also used it for needlepoint.  It has a little more texture because of the twist on it, so your stitching shows up better!

Thanks for coming by to take a look!

Papertrey Ink Create Along With Us March 2016

I created this card for Papertrey Ink's Create Along With Us challenge.

The tag is PTI's Tag Sale #3, the rose button charm is one of the Nostalgic Notions buttons, and the polka dot background was created using a single dot from PTI's Polka Dot Basics III.  The hello is a MFT die and "thinking of you" is an older Hero Arts set.

My inspiration comes from Betsy Veldman's card below, (that you can find here).  I just love pink and gold together, so her card became a favorite of mine right away.

Papertrey Ink MIM #242: SPONGED STAMPING

I've made a couple of cards for Papertrey Ink's Make it Monday #242: Sponged Stamping. This was a really fun technique and will be useful in the future, I'm sure.

On my first card I used the new Painted Petals set. I sponged the colors instead of using the 2 step stamping images in the set.

My second card uses Spring Woods and Sentiment Signs.  I sponged sweet blush and simply chartreuse on the bird.  These birds look so good with this technique, don't you think? I also sponged colors on the sentiment to create an ombre look. I was so excited to see that Dawn McVey has designed a new sentiment set for PTI's March release, called Ombre Sentiments that will make creating that ombre look even easier. Yay! That one is definitely on my March shopping list!

Thanks for taking a look!

Papertrey Ink MIM #241 Ombre Backgrounds

I'm playing along with Papertrey Ink's Make it Monday #241.  Betsy showed us how to create an ombre background and then to stencil a design on top of it.

Here's my card:

I had a bit of trouble getting the background smooth, but the stenciling over the top hides all the imperfections!  This was a fun technique!
