Papertrey Ink Feb 2016 Blog Hop

I'm excited to be participating in Papertrey Ink's Feb 2016 Blog Hop!  The above photo was our inspiration this month.  I love this photo!  The pinks are so delicate.  Pink and green has been a long time favorite of mine.  I also like the collage-ish look to the photo.  So I was inspired to create this card:

My husband has informed me that this bird probably wouldn't be able to fly; it's too fat.  And the colors are not correct either.  It's always so helpful to get your husbands analysis, don't you think?

I was so hoping to receive my PTI February order before the blog hop, but it isn't scheduled to arrive until next Monday. :(  I was thinking the new Spring Woods would have been fun to use for this.  But the bird from Winter Woods worked out just fine.  (Other than being too fat and the wrong color, lol)  I had watercolored a piece of watercolor paper in greens, but it didn't work out for the background, so I used it for the branch, cutting it with PTI's Branching Out die.

I also watercolored a background in pink with Distress Inks which I wanted to use so I kept playing and created this as well:

And then I kept going because I was having so much fun, although this next one isn't relating much to the inspiration photo.  Just using up the pieces left on my craft table.

Thanks for coming by to take a look!

Reverse Confetti's Sketch For You To Try

I made this card for Reverse Confetti's February Sketch For You To Try.  I really struggled with how to interpret the four circles on the rectangle so I finally ended up using more of a medallion motif using lots of different colored leaves cut from RC's Leafy Confetti Cuts.  I stamped and embossed the sentiment from RC's Labeled stamp set and outlined it with a white pen.

Thanks for taking a look!

Papertrey Ink MIM #239 Customizing Patterned Paper

Papertrey Ink's  Make it Monday Challenge for this week is to Customize your Patterned Paper.  I used the bold diagonal stripe from the Lovely Lady and White Basics Patterned Paper.  I added some kraft stripes with my PTI Plaid Builder stamp set.

What a great technique this is!  Thanks Lizzie and PTI for showing this to us!  The addition of the kraft color to the background really helps tie it in with the colors used on the card.

Supplies
Stamps:  PTI Fall Florals, Plaid Builder and Think Big Favorites #22
Paper:  PTI Kraft, White, Lovely Lady & White Basics
Ink:  PTI Kraft & Distress Ink Picked Raspberry, Ripe Persimmon and Crushed Olive
Dies:  PTI Fall Florals, Mama Elephant Embellished Tag
Other:  White embossing powder

Papertrey Ink Create Along with Us Challenge Feb 2016

Catching up with my last entry during the Papertrey Ink Anniversary festivities.  This one is for the Create Along with Us Challenge.  I was inspired by Melissa Phillips card below.

And here is my take on it.  I changed up the colors and I didn't have any large butterfly stamps! Gasp, shocking I know, but that will change soon - I'll be getting the What the Doodle Butterfly for sure!  I used a doily to create a similar feeling to Melissa's card.

Thanks for stopping by!

Papertrey Ink Day 10 Paper Crafting Alphabet Challenge

Day 10 of Papertrey Ink's Anniversay Celebration is an Alphabet Challenge.  I used the letters from my name and came up with:

J-incorporate jewels or rhinestones
U-underline your sentiment with pen, stitching, or stamping
D-add detail with white pen or paper piercer
I-use an impression plate or dry embossing

This card just sort of fell together!  I love it when that happens!  I started with the Harlequin Cover Plate and embossed that, (which I had never done any embossing with my Big Shot and now I love it!) Then I wanted to keep the rest neutral to be sure the dry embossing was still dominant.  I couldn't find my rhinestones but I did have these vintage ones that were perfect for this. Yay!

Papertrey Ink Saturday Snail Mail Challenge

Another Papertrey Ink challenge entry here.  I have a card for the Saturday Snail Mail Challenge.  We will be sending these to the warehouse staff at Papertrey Ink to thank them for all their hard work when we all order stamps all at once on the 15th of every month!  We must drive them crazy!

Here's my card:

I used Papertrey Inks Petite Pots stamp set again!  I also used Keep it Simple Frames

Papertrey Ink 9th Anniversary Challenges

I'm playing catch-up with some entries for Papertrey Inks 9th Anniversary challenges.  I have cards for the Day 2 Dress Up Inspiration Challenge and Day 3 Grab and Craft Challenge.

I used this photo from Sundance catalog as my inspiration for the Dress Up Inspiration challenge.  I love the pink background with the gold and white print.

Here's what I created

I heat embossed white and gold on the Lovely Lady background paper and used PTI's Lovely Layers, Keep it Simple Frames and Think Big Favorites #22 stamp sets.

Here's the card I created for the Day 3 Grab and Craft Challenge.  We were supposed to grab all our supplies in 5 minutes and then create our card.  I had most of these things on my craft desk as I had been working on some cards using PTI's Sweet Life stamp set.

Thanks for looking!

Papertrey Ink 9th Anniversary Fortune Teller Challenge

Hi everyone!  I made a card to enter into the Day 8: Color Pop Fortune Teller challenge at Papertrey Ink.  It was fun to make the little cootie catcher fortune teller!  I made tons of those when I was little and also when my daughter was little.

The colors my fortune picked were Aqua Mist, Berry Sorbet and Royal Velvet.  I cheated a little and switched out Royal Velvet for Enchanted Evening.  Here's the card I made:

I used PTI's Petite Pots Anniversary set which I wavered about getting for a long time.  I'm so glad I finally ordered it.  I LOVE that bird so much and I really like the flowers and phrases too.  The stripes on the right side of the card are actually one of the flower pots that I repeated vertically.  That will be fun to use for lots of cards.  So if you are undecided about getting Petite Pots, I say you should get it.  Hurry though, it's only available for a few more days.  So excited to see what the new anniversary set will be!

Papertrey Ink 2016 Anniversary Day One: DT Favorites

I'm doing things a little out of order for the PTI Anniversary Celebrations.  This is my entry for Day One of the celebration.  My color inspiration came from Heather Nichols.  Here's her colors:

And here's the card I created:

The colors are looking a little Christmasy to be used for Valentine's Day, but I think I like it!
I used PTI All My Heart and Bigger Blooms stamp sets, and Tag Sale: Quilted die and Limitless Layers Hearts dies.

Papertrey Ink Sampler Square Challenge

It was lots of fun creating 9 different squares with different techniques to enter Papertrey Ink's Sampler Square Challenge for it's 2016 Anniversary celebrations.  Here's what I created:

My techniques from left to right, top to bottom:
1. Fussy cutting  2. Ombre stamping  3. Watercoloring over embossing
4. Plain stamping  5. Pigment ink  6. Heat embossing
7. Distress ink blended over embossed image.  8. Stamping off (twice)  9. Spritzing inked up stamp and then stamping.

I used Papertrey Ink Lovely Layers, and Happy Day stamp sets and Limitless Layers: Hearts dies.

I have lots of challenges that I still need to post my entries for.  This is so much fun!  Thanks for stopping by.

Papertrey Ink Make It Monday #238

I made this card to enter into Papertrey Ink's Make it Monday challenge #238: Valentine Ombre Stamping.  This is my first effort at uploading a photo to the blog so I'm not sure how it's going to go.  I'm a little (lot) out of my element here!

I stamped the background with PTI's Polka Dot Basics III. I watercolored the heart with an ombre look and die cut with PTI Limitless layers hearts dies.  The sentiments are from PTI Happy Day Stamp set.  I added some sparkle with gold heat embossing.

Thanks for taking a look!
