PTI MIM #250 - MASKED BACKGROUNDS

Just a last minute post for Papertrey Ink's Make it Monday #250 Masked Backgrounds with Laurie Willison.  This was a great reminder of a way to create a frame for cards without adding more layers.  Love this technique.  Here's the first card I made:

I overdid the splattering on the background a bit!

With some of the leftover pieces I created another card which I actually like better, even though you don't see much of the sponged background.

I won't take the time to list all the supplies so I can get this posted real quick.  It's all Papertrey Ink so that's probably all you need to know!

Thanks for taking a look!

PTI May 2016 Blog Hop

Such beautiful inspiration for Papertrey Ink's May Blog Hop!

Isn't it gorgeous?  I was inspired by the soft watercolor look.  Here's my first card:

My latest PTI order arrived just in time for me to use the Garden Garland Die to frame my watercolor background. The flowers and the Hello die cut are from Bloomin' Cute.  I had watercolored about a million butterflies using What the Doodle Butterfly, but it just wasn't working, then at the last minute I found this butterfly from Pretty Peonies and it was a much better size. Clearly I need more butterfly sets! I have so many on my wishlist; Beautiful Butterflies, Life is Beautiful, Butterfly Dreams, Bitty Butterflies and of course the Color Pop Butterflies Kit!  I'm still playing catch-up since I just became a PTI-aholic late last year!  Which is your favorite butterfly set?

I also made this card with a flower from Painted Petals:

I painted each stamp with watercolor paints and then stamped that onto the paper to get the watercolor look. Sending die cut is from the Don't Forget to Write kit and the Love & Sympathy phrase is also from Painted Petals

Papertrey Ink MIM #248:Ink Blending through Die Cut Masks

Hello there,

I've created a couple cards for Papertrey Ink's Make it Monday #248.  Lizzie Jones showed us a fun way to use our dies by cutting a mask with them and then blending ink through them.

For my first card I used Hello Sunshine dies.

I love how the colors combine when they are overlapped!  There was much debate at my house about the placement of the enamel dots.  I struggle with exactly where to put those things, so sometimes you just want someone to say yeah that's good.  It's my fault because I asked so I have to listen to the opinions offered, don't I?  In the end I left it how I originally placed it, lol.

For my second card I used the Don't Forget to Write Kit which I've had out on my work table since it arrived.  Loving all the goodies in that kit!  I used the plain square for my mask and stamped around it with the square striped border.  No overlapping of colors on this one but I love the soft suble look of the sponging.

Make it Monday #247 - Watercolored Cards

Hello there!  I'm participating in Papertrey Ink Make it Monday #247 - Watercoloring Cards with Melissa Phillips. You might notice I changed the name of it from Watercoloring Card Sets to just Watercoloring Cards. I am a very sloooow cardmaker and so I just made one card. I had lots of fun with this technique. I may have gone a little overboard with the splattering on this card lol, but I definitely want to do more of that! I copied Melissa's style with the gingham and lace at the bottom of the card.

I didn't have any of the preprinted watercoloring papers from PTI, so I made my own with Peonies on Parade and lots of masking. I used Ranger Archival Ink so that it wouldn't bleed when I added the watercoloring on top of it. I used Distress inks in Spun Sugar, Worn Lipstick, Picked Raspberries, Shabby Shutters and Crushed Olive. My sentiment is from Happy Day stamp set. I stamped the gingham in Raspberry Fizz with Super Gingham.

I'll be giving this to my Mom tomorrow! I hope you all have a wonderful Mother's Day!
